I asked the lady in the bookstore, "Could you please tell me where is the self-help section?"
The lady said, "If I were to tell you, it would defeat its purpose."

Another from a true Zen master, utilizing his ability of skillful means to reach a variety of audiences. In this simple, thought-provoking, honest piece brings his warmth and clarity to this unique explication of Zen Buddhism with the discussion of the daily life of a Zen monastery.

Numerous stories, anecdotes, examples are mentioned between masters and their disciples with the thorough attention is given to concepts of Awareness and Impermanence, and to contemporary issues such as the conflicts between modern technology and spirituality.

I simply can’t resist recommending all Thich Nhat Hanh’s books that I read.

Living Buddha Living Christ - Thich Nhat Hanh
Trying to meet the west with east

The most beloved Buddhist Zen Master, poet, scholar and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh, tries to evoke the similarities between Christianity and Buddhism with a very simple message i.e. at the very core, we are one.

Although the book is filled with dogmatic explanation and rules with commandments’ comparison and much more, yet at the very bottom, lay some striking similarities between the two.

Whenever you read Thich Nhat Hanh’s any book, it gives you a sense of peace and tranquillity, and your heart is filled with profound gratitude. His writing is so simple, his message is so powerful, try your hands on any of his books. The most innocent yet beautiful book that I came across of his is Cultivating the mind of love.

TIMBER HAYKEYE - Buddhist Boot Camp
I love this book. This book is like a companion to me. Wherever I go, I carry it along with me.

Each chapter is only a page or two long, and you can read them in any order.

Timber Hawkeye wrote emails to his friends and family for eight years, telling them what was going on in his life and about his life as a monk in the Zen Monastery. One of his friends suggested that he shares those emails with the world because she found the letters so inspirational, that’s how the blog-to-book Buddhist Boot Camp was born!

Conversations with god - 1
This will be a breath-taking experience, not just the Book-1 but the whole series.
This book is incredibly insightful, inspirational and a guidance for all of us. It changed my perspective and thoughts towards life. There are so many ‘WOW’ moments that I cannot possibly count. I highly recommend the whole series. Neale Donald Walsch was frustrated with his life as nothing was going right for him. He started cursing and venting about his life and existence, that’s when he starting writing a letter to god on his notebook but he did not expect to get answers but he did. A voice was coming to his ears and answering all his questions. He started writing them as if someone was dictating everything to him. He wrote hundreds of pages of the dialogues and that’s how “Conversations with God” was born! I don’t know whether the story is true or not but the dialogues are mind-blowing in the book. There was a moment when I was reading the book number 3 and I realised this piece of tremendous information, understanding and wisdom cannot be possible for a human to write and comprehend, it can only be ‘GOD’.
Conversations with god Book two
global topics of geopolitical and metaphysical life on the planet, and the challenges now facing the world

God resume their discussion and move on to larger topics The duo pair discuss time, space, politics, and even kinky sex, isn’t here for just shock value. It is an honest look at some of the broad issues important to all of us on the planet, and a suggestion of how things might go if we are all willing to open our minds and have our own conversations with divinity.

Such book can be difficult at times to read but stick to it. You ain’t regret.

Conversations with god Book Three
"Feel your feelings, laugh your laughs, cry your cries, honor your truth. Yet when all emotions are done, be still and know that I am God."

The dialogues deals with the universal truths of the highest order, and the challenges and opportunities of the soul. This incredible series contains answers that will change you, your life, and the way you view other beings.

I end this last book recommendation of the CWG trilogy with a quote that I loved to the core:
“Feel your feelings, laugh your laughs, cry your cries, honor your truth. Yet when all emotions are done, be still and know that I am God.”

I even have a blog ‘Chemistry of Emotion‘ that goes with this saying. Do check it out.

The power of now - Eckhart Tolle
belief system based on living in the present moment

‘Every sentence rings with truth and power’ – Deepak Chopra on the book.

There is much potential to what the author lays out in this book but it is up to the reader to follow what is written. While some people may not agree with some aspects of the book or feel that there is too much repetition the central message is clear: Start living in the NOW and stop letting your mind control your life.

Anita Moorjani - Dying to be me
One of the most inspirational stories I have ever read.

Anita Moorjani had a ‘Near Death Experience.’ Her journey from Cancer to true healing will make you cry and happy at the same time. It will inspire you to the core, provoke your deepest thoughts and desires of finding the truth of existence. In this truly inspirational memoir, she articulated her state in a most honest and beautiful way that one can connect to her fears, mental blocks, sufferings to the point where one realises that she was dying – to be herself.

In this book, he talks a little bit about his own journey and gives you an understanding of your body and mind in the most simplistic manner. It’s not any different from his talks on social media. His message is clear – Joy and misery happens within you, pain and pleasure happens within you, love and agony happens within you.

‘Inner Engineering is a fascinating read, rich with Sadhguru’s insights and his teachings. If you are ready, it is a tool to help awaken your own inner intelligence, the ultimate and supreme genius that mirrors the wisdom of the cosmos’—Deepak Chopra

Buddha in daily ilfe
It teaches that the state of Buddhahood can be attained by anyone

Can be read as an introduction to Lotus Sutra and Zen Buddhism for the beginners. My first book on Buddhism.
